Its a non-stimulant so you wont feel any added energy from it but since your cells are water based fat cells can't travel into the cell to be burned for energy. L-Carnitine is water soluble so it attaches itself to a fat molecule and passes it through the cell wall which can then be used as fuel. Other than that the only muscle in the body that burns fat exclusively as a source of energy is the heart. Hence, target heart rate during cardio and thermogenic fat burners which speed up your heart rate.I take 3 tablets a day and follow a strict exercise and diet program.

It's used as a supplement for lots of purposes including Alzheimer's, late life depression, thinking problems related to Lyme disease, and for nerve problems such as neuropathy due to diabetes or pain due to certain drugs. I ordered it for a family member at the suggestion of the doctor for neuropathy due to the after effects of chemotherapy. So far it hasn't helped, but this is a difficult thing to treat and sometimes just takes time. At any rate, we're trying a second bottle.I've ordered vitamins and supplements from TwinLabs in the past and have been happy with their products. It's sometimes difficult to tell if a supplement is really working or if a condition just improves on it's own or if the improvement is just a placebo effect (You expect it to work and it's actually your positive thinking that makes it seem so.) But there's one vitamin, Niacin, that produces a harmless flushing effect if you don't get the buffered version, and I could tell by the flushing that the TwinLabs product was being absorbed better than some other brands I had tried. So I've continued to buy their products because as far as I can tell they usually seem to work.

The pills are mized in with glass fragments and have a residue on some of them.Before I bought the product I read another review with the same complaint,and he said it happened 3 times. I can just keep going and going and really enjoy my workouts. It is energy from the cellular level within the body and not a glycemic spike. I found that my energy level was consistant throughout my workouts and was there if I needed it.

NOW Foods brand Acetyl L-Carnitine no longer pharmaceutical grade by Cordell from Silicon Valley, CA USA on 2010-03-24 NOW Foods has switched suppliers for its Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALC). Formerly sourced from the Swiss firm Lonza which has earned a stellar reputation for the purity and stability of its pharmaceutical grade products, NOW's ALC comes now from a cheap, generic supplier. (The product image on this page is outdated; on the NOW Foods website, "Pharmaceutical Grade" and Lonza's "L-Carnipure" trademark have been removed from the product label.) Most often these generic ALC suppliers are based in China, a country infamous for its lax quality control standards and consequent product adulteration scandals ranging from toxic toothpaste to tainted infant formula that killed hundreds.Moreover, the cheaper ALC is produced via chemical synthesis, rather than by fermentation. This cheaper process creates high levels of the toxic D-Carnitine form which must then be removed from the end product. (Whereas the L-Carnitine form improves fatty acid metabolism, the D-Carnitine form inhibits it.) This purification step can leave as much as 10% or more of the toxic D-Carnitine form in the ALC shipped to customers. NOW Foods promises that it will exceed the FDA's and EU's 4% standard but as yet has not implemented the quality control regime to ensure it. It has been reported that fashion models use this along with Alpha Lipoic Acid as a "Fountain Of Youth" supplement. Personally, I do notice an increase in energy especially when taken along with MSM. The last bottle had a faint odor of acetic acid (vinegar) when opened; and over the course of a couple months the smell intensified. I ended up throwing it out. Perhaps source naturals needs better inventory control or production quality control.

Ok product, but have since found better by Health Nut from Coral Gables, FL on 2008-05-14 This product is your typical Carnitine+ALA supplement, giving 1g of Carnitine and 300mg of ALA per 2 tablet dose. I thought this product was ok, i say ok because it took 4 tables for a noticeable effect. I have since found another product that delivers the ingredient in a more absorbable capsule based form, which i feel the difference off only 2 capsules. My other product also delivers 600mg of ALA per serving vs. only 300mg in this product.Also, i did not like all the binders and fillers involved in these tablets, read the label and you will find: Microcrystalline Cellulose, Stearic Acid, Modified Cellulose Gum, Magnesium Stearate, and Colloidal Silicon Dioxide.I don't think i would buy again simply because there is better on the market without all the junk, for a comparable price. Quality is my number one consideration in purchasing supplements.

Improvement in sleep & muscle recovery by Vicki M. Schmidt from Elgin, MN on 2010-05-20 While I'm not 100% sold on it for weightloss use, I have noticed my sleep is better. Initially, I had bizarre dreams and nightmares for the first week, and then back to normal. I have fibromyalgia, and so a good night's sleep is very important. Non-restorative sleep is something I've battled for years. Now I have an easier time getting up in the morning, and while I still try to nap in the afternoons if I can, an hour is plenty of time and I wake up on my own. Before, I could sleep for hours and needed an alarm to get me up. Not any more! I haven't really lost any weight that I've noticed, but another thing that goes along with the better sleep is just being able to recover better after over-using muscles. I had to buy a new dryer this weekend and while helping my guys get it in the house, I pulled some muscles in my back and sides. Normally something like that would set off a fibro flare and I'd be dealing with it for weeks if not months, but two days later not a single pain. In 2000, late-stage Lyme disease asserted dire control over my health; I had had earlier manifistations but, untreated, the tick-borne diseases Lyme, babesia, erlichia and bartonelle had spread everywhere. My digestion stopped. I mean, stopped. After starving for a few years I was selected for an IBS trial and at the end given an Rx for Zelnorm, which was pulled about 2 years ago. Panic!! Then I read how Acetyl L-Carnitine is the precurser of the chemical that Zelnorm apparently added to my intestine, and it has really helped. I also need to take spasmonol, but that seems to only be available here in the UK, and is £60 without a prescription. Spasmonol is alverine citrate. I need both Acetyl L-Carnitine AND spasmonol; either alone does not do the trick.I hear claims that Acetyl L-Carnitine is great for losing fat and for regulating the immune system and hormone levels; but I take it so I don't lose weight and wither away.This particular brand is one of the best, and I tolerate the high dosage well. You experience a bigger calorie burn when you take it prior and this an excellent product because in its liquid form will work immediately and you do not have to take it 30 minutes before your workout like a pill form. I take a Tbs prior to every workout and have noticed an increased weight loss and increased calorie burn.
